Now that we've looked at the general proportions and the eyes, let's look at the rest of the features....
The Nose
The nose has become more unimportant as of late. First of all, there are so many noses that no matter what mistake you think you made, there is probably someone in the world with a nose similar to your picture. (!!!)
Second, it's become a trend for some artworks to feature characters with no distinguishable noses at all...so how you draw a nose is entirely up to you. You can stylize it, you can simplify it, you can omit, you can put a gigantic amount of shading/detail into it..it's your call. The Mouth
The mouth has enormous simplification possibilities (and still look good) too. For those who want to be true to life, you must remember that the lips are two separate, different-shaped, 3-D objects.
There is a notch under the lower lip because it sticks out farther than the chin, and there's a tiny cleft between the bottom of the nose and the mouth, something that many people ignore in artwork...which is ok, but if you're going for realistic, it's nicer to have one, at least subtly in your coloring!
